Engaged

Hello everyone! I know that it's been a long, long time since my last post. I am sorry. However, I think that the news I have makes the wait worth your while. Well...maybe.

As you all know, a lot has changed in my life since the last post to this website (April of 2005), and I won't go into those details here. The most important thing to know is that all of that change has been for the best, and I've never been happier. So what's the news that's worth a year and a half wait, you ask? Julie and I are engaged!

I asked Julie to marry me way back on August 3rd. Of course she said "yes." Since then, we've set a date and we've booked a location. Everyone get your calendars out now...the date is May 27th, 2007, and the ceremony and reception will be at the downtown Fort Worth YWCA. Before anyone asks...yes, we know that is a Sunday, and we are well aware of the fact that it is Memorial Day weekend. We thought you all (especially anyone coming from out of town) would appreciate not having to take an extra day off from work.

So that's the news. Stay tuned for more details. Oh, and here's a link for more information on the proposal.

Texas Thunder Airshow 2005
This past Saturday, Jacob, Miles, dad, and I ventured over to the Ft. Worth NAS JRB (formerly know as Carswell Airforce Base) to see the Texas Thunder Airshow 2005, featuring the Blue Angels. A good time was had by all, including Jacob, who almost made it through the whole show. In the end he dozed off as the Blue Angels were wrapping up their show.

Here's a link to some video from the show: Airshow video (7 minutes, 30 MB).

New Digs, Again
Well folks, we've closed on the house we are buying! We'll be moving in over the weekend. So long to renting. Hopefully we will stay in this house longer than we stayed in the other two (15 months and 5 months).

I won't be posting our information here, for obvious reasons. If you need the new info, call our cell phones, email us, or leave a comment here, and we'll get the info to you.

Welcome Caleb Lee Daneman
Please welcome Caleb Lee Daneman into the world. He was born at 9:52 PM on November 5th (just over three weeks early).

Both mom and baby are home from the hospital and doing well.

Caleb was 7 lbs. 8 oz. and measured 17.5" in length. However, this past Monday at his doctor's office, he measured 19.25". (Growth spurt or did his legs just straighten out some?).

Our older son, Jacob, is taking everything in stride, and is really enjoying the extra visits from family, as well as showing off "his" baby to his teachers and friends at school.

I will be putting pictures up soon, but until then, here is a little tease...

We're Having a...
Gidgit and I went to the doctor yesterday for her regular visit, except that this one wasn't so regular. We knew that this was the visit where we might learn if it was going to be a girl or boy. Fortunately, he cooperated. :-)

Happy Birthday Tracy!
Tracy turned 28 today. Her birthday was celebrated in typical New Year's Day fashion with family, cake, presents, and of course college football.

Happy Holidays
I know -- Chanukkah is nearly done for another year, but I still wanted to wish everyone a happy Chanukkah.

To those of you who do not celebrate Chanukkah, I hope that you have a very happy holiday season.

To everyone, here's to a happy New Year!

Is There A Problem?
Seems that with all this technology available to us, we can't communicate effectively as a family. This site's charter is to help facilitate communication within the family. Obviously, there is not a lot here to do this. Sure, you could register if you haven't already, and post information on an upcoming or event, or just post about something you want to share - but no one does. Maybe you didn't know this was available to you.

I intend to add some features, if you intend to use them. Things like an event calendar, event notification, mailing list capabilities, as well as the news posting that currently exists. Perhaps these things will help.

Of course, regular old email would work, so long as everyone is included, as would the telephone - just gotta use it.

Happy Anniversary
Gidgit and I are celebrating our 4th Wedding Anniversary today.

It's been 2 years since we actually celebrated this day. Last Sept. 12th, we were in no mood to celebrate - with so much death and destruction from the day before.

This year, and in the years that follow, it will be different. We will celebrate the memory of those that perished on 9/11/01, and celebrate our health and togetherness. By the way, we are also celebrating with a little trip out of the country.

I turned 30!

For those of you that live under a rock, I turned 30 nearly two weeks ago, on August 30th. I celebrated my birthday 4 times, if you count the birthday lunch at work. So, yeah, it was a good birthday :-D.

We Return from Big Sky
Well...everyone we have managed to force ourselves to return from yet another wonderous place on the planet, northwest Montana, in the town of Polson, on beautiful Flathead Lake. We had a wonderful time surprising Paul London Thursday night as he was about half snoozing on the couch. Thanks to the help of Carlisa, who pretended to be headed to Seattle that same day, she actually spent the day in Missoula shopping away while waiting on our flight...and surprised he was...but pleasantly.

We had a great time enjoying the beauty of the Mission Valley where their gorgeous KOA is located, totally surrounded by mountains, most snow covered still. Austin had a great time chasing the cats, riding the tractor, gators, and riding mowers. We highly recommend the lovely hospitality of Paul, Carlisa, and "Gram", Carlisa'a 80 years young grandmother, helping them for the summer and enjoying her new 5th wheel...really spiffy.

All in all a great time in a beautiful place.

Jacob Stuff
Hi everyone,

Just a quick update from Fort Worth, Texas. We are all fine here, and Jacob is doing real well.

He is chatting up a storm and learning new things every day. It is truly amazing how fast kids pick things up. Of course, right now, he seems to be the worlds greatest mimic. Words and actions, he imitates it all.

We have a ton of pictures from the past few months. Hopefully, I can get Bryan to put them online. By the way, did anyone else notice that the online Picture Book is missing? I'll have to ask Bryan about that too.

Anyway, time to unwind from a busy day.

The Attack of the Cams
Welcome to the new Fort Worth Cam. Yes, I know, it isn't as exciting as the Castle Rock Cam, and potentially much less scenic, but oh well.

So the cam sits in my home office. Sometimes it will point at me (not often), at other times it might be directed outside, and sometimes you might see Gidgit or Jacob.

'Tis The Season For New Digs
It seems as though we are in the heart of moving season. With Tracy and Steven moving into their new house in Pflugerville, Scott, Vicky & Austin moving into their new place in Dallas, and Bryan, Gidgit & Jacob finally finding a place of their own in Fort Worth, it seems like everyone has a new address and phone number.

Drop them a line for their new info.

Superman
I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naïve
I'm just out to find
The better part of me

I'm more than a bird...I'm more than a plane
More than some pretty face beside a train
It's not easy to be me

Wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home
I'll never see

It may sound absurd...But don't be naive
Even Heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed....But won't you concede
Even Heroes have the right to dream
It's not easy to be me

Up, up and away...away from me
It's all right...You can all sleep sound tonight
I'm not crazy...or anything...

I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
Men weren't meant to ride
With clouds between their knees

I'm only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me

It's not easy to be me.

Jacob and Snow
Well folks, a spring snowstorm has pounded Colorado. As I am writing this, we have 12+ inches of snow on the ground with an additional 4-10 inches expected. To top it all off, we have winds gusting over 40 miles per hour, creating some big snow drifts.

Here are some pictures from today, as well as pictures of Jacob.

Go to the pictures!

Enjoy!

New House In Denver
On March 9th, Bryan, Gidgit, and Jacob closed on their first Colorado home. They moved in on the 10th, in the middle of a March snowstorm that left several inches of snow on the ground. Definitely not the best conditions to move in! Fortunately everyone survived the move, and word is the house is gradually coming together.

Pictures coming soon.

My Former Fair City
What has happened to my (former) fair city?

I've only been gone a year, and already things are falling apart. Maybe it has something to do with losing a Governor. Maybe it has nothing to do with anything, maybe it's just plain craziness and completely random. Maybe there's something in the water.

Whatever it is, it wasn't good for three people who were walking to their cars after spending the evening on 6th St. The three strangers were attacked by a homeless man as they walked down a well-lit, busy sidewalk just a block north of 6th St.

Pictures From Denver
Ok, call me lazy.

So I haven't updated Jacob's Picture Book in quite some time. What do you want, an excuse? Fine, I've been very busy. I have not, however, been too busy to take pictures, just too busy to load them.

Here is your chance to see some recent photos.

Thanks & Then Some
This years Thanksgiving Dinner in Dallas will feature more than the averagenumber of guests, as families from across the metroplex and around the country make the trip to North Dallas for turkey and festivities.

Posted by Bryan at 12:00 AM | Filed Under Family And Friends | Link | Comments (0)

Out-of-Towners

Thanksgiving in Dallas will come with more than turkey and dressing at the table. This year's dinner will have 5 guests from out of town.

Recent Colorado residents, Bryan & Gidgit along with their infant son Jacob, will be making the journey from Denver to Dallas to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with family.

While most of the family was able to visit with Gidgit and Jacob during their trip to Dallas over Labor Day weekend, this will be the family's first trip to the Big D with Bryan joining wife Gidgit and son Jacob.

Amazingly, they will not be the guests traveling the furthest distance for turkey. That honor goes to Neal & Kathy, as they will be arriving from California.

Everyone is excited to have so much family around, especially family that is not here for every family get together.
